External Pressurized Filters

The external pressurized pond filter allows maximum flexibility in positioning your pond filter.  Unlike other pond filters, these can be placed further away from the pond or even partially buried, hiding them in your landscape.  External pressure pond filters have a wide range of functions: from small ponds to very large ponds.  The basic pressurized pool filter consists of a sealed tank that feeds the pool water from the pump through a pipe.  The water is then forced through a mechanical and biological filtering medium before leaving the filter and returning to the pond.  When flow is reduced due to blockage, the basic pressurized pool filter needs to be removed for cleaning and maintenance.  More sophisticated pressurized pool filters have backwash capability.  "Backflush" refers to reversing the internal flow of water and diverting water from the filter to a separate sewage pipe away from the pond.  By backwashing the pool filter, the need to remove the filter for manual cleaning can be greatly reduced or eliminated.  Some external pressurized pond filters also combine the use of ultraviolet (UV) sterilizers designed to further clarify and remove algae from your pond water.  External pressurized pool filters are available for flexible liners and rigid preformed pools.  A separate pond pump is required for operation.

Connected to a properly matched pond pump, the pressure filter provides superior biomechanical filtration to remove particulate matter as well as toxic ammonia and nitrite.  The water that enters the filter is cleaned as it passes through various filter media.
Pressure filters are ideal stand-alone filters for small to medium koi/fish ponds.  They can also be used as an auxiliary filter for larger ponds with skimming/waterfall filtration systems already in place.  The ease of installation makes them ideal for a new or existing pond.

Since pressure filters are self-contained, they can be mounted or partially mounted on the ground near the pond and still effectively return water to the pond.  They also work effectively above or below the pond level.
